Hi! It’s been awhile since i’ve written a blog, but here we are beginning our Independent Projects. Over the past two months, I’ve been brainstorming creative ideas in which I can incorporate my art into. My first plan was to write a story; but I quickly realized this would be quite hard to achieve as I have no basic story plots completed. Then, I decided on a short poetry book. I’ve always been very intrigued by writing, and creating a book with my own Illustrations would be a dream come true. So here we are, planning out how I’ll successfully complete this. First, I’ve decided on a main focus for the poems and meaning. For me, mental illness is a huge focus, as it's something I've been dealing with so it's very close to home. I want to bring light to this, as many children and young adults are turned away from help when they need it most. This book will have some sensitive content, as it describes what life feels like battling a mental illness. The illustrations will be made with watercolor, including the title of the book. To achieve this plan, I’ve created a simple schedule. Three illustrations a week, and five poems. This will leave me with a short but meaningful book; around 25-40 pages long.
To showcase my work afterwards, the easiest way would be a trifold. I’ll display the cover, along with the most complex illustrations and poems. I’m super excited to take on this project!
